Fit Party and Chocolate Extravaganza
The great weather on April 5 rewarded the twenty five members who
headed over to Doug and Linda's place for a Spring kickoff party.
Chris set up his chocolate fountain for dipping all kinds of tasty
treats. Liala and Brian had a fit kit from JL Clothing, so that
people could size and order new team uniforms. Toss in a few rowing
videos and we all had a good time.
Docks launched March 29
The docks are now back in the water. Check the river temperature
using the USGS link. Take extra precautions or consider an alternate
workout if the water is below 10C(50F). Even above that can be a
problem if you flip, so consider using a wider boat or a team boat
for your first few rows of the season.
NOTES FROM 2007
Charlie Doyle Memorial Regatta on Oct 7, 2007
The 2007 regatta was a great success. We had beautiful sunny weather
and excellent water conditions. Full results are at Regattacentra

"Dock Talk"
The Adult Rowing Director, Linda Clemens, sent out the first of
her monthly emails. She plans on using "Dock Talk" to
keep everyone up-to-date on what's happening in the Adult Rowing
Program. If you did not get your copy by email, then contact Doug
Barker regarding the email list.
Height Stick Damaged
The height stick at the dock was damaged by ice this winter. Until
it is replaced, go to the USGS website or the NOAA
website to check the approximate river height. Our yellow zone
runs from roughly 27.4 feet to 28.0 feet on websites. But remember
that is only a rough correlation.
Docks Launched April 1
The full docks are in the water. Thanks go to the UD men's crew
for the heavy lifting and to the GDRA riggers for bolting it all
back together.
Annual Members Meeting Well Attended
The annual members meeting was held on March 29 at the MCL Cafeteria
in Kettering. Discussions were held on safety, team clothing, club
communications, LTR, sweep, boat purchase plans and publicity. Doug
Barker, Steve Herbert and Linda Clemens were elected to the Board
of Trustees. Each Trustee must also fulfill a position as a Club
Officer. Doug is the VP and Boathouse Manager. Steve is our Corporate
Attorney. Linda is the Adult Rowing Director. Jim Wall sent minutes
out to all club members.

Five Rivers Fall Regatta
a huge success
Jim Wall reports that our tenth annual fall regatta was a great
success. This year we had 240 official entries. There were 20 clubs
from 12 cities and 3 states. The whole regatta was virtually glitch
free which says a lot for our volunteer workers, from registration
to parking to launching to timing to scoring, to retail sales to
behind the scenes financial handling, etc. The parking areas were
full which means we had around three thousand people in attendance.
A job well done by all. Final results are at www.regattacentral.com
GDRA shines at Head of the Hooch
GDRA had a great showing on the Tennessee River at the 2006 Head
of the Hooch, the second largest regatta in the U.S. Our Juniors
took two gold and a silver in double sculls and our Masters took
bronze in the quad. See the press
release for more details.
